About place names
Some names sound rugged while others feel more established. They combine natural features like rivers or hills with descriptive adjectives. Certain suffixes also appear to indicate historical settlement types.
The results focus on phonetic consistency to help build a believable setting. Short, punchy names work well for small villages. Longer, multi-syllable names suit large metropolitan hubs.
How to choose place names
Match the name length to the size of your settlement.
Use familiar suffixes like -ton or -burg to ground the location in a specific cultural style.
Combine landscape terms with old nouns to create historical depth.
