How to use the zodiac wheel

Press Spin to land on one of the 12 signs of the Western zodiac. The result shows the sign, its usual dates and its element.

Set Element to fire, earth, air or water to spin only the three signs of that element. Writers use it to give a character a sign, and it works as a party game: everyone guesses who in the room matches the sign that comes up.

Frequently asked questions

What dates does each sign cover?

The dates shown are the common ones for the tropical zodiac, such as Aries from March 21 to April 19. The exact day a sign starts can move by a day from year to year, so people born on the edge sometimes see two answers.

Which signs belong to each element?

Fire: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius. Earth: Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn. Air: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius. Water: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces.

Can I spin only some signs?

Choose an element in Element, or open Edit the entries and delete the signs you do not want.

Does the wheel predict anything?

No. It picks a sign at random, for games, writing prompts or fun.

What are the 12 zodiac signs?

Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces. All 12 are on the wheel.

What is the zodiac wheel?

In astrology it is a circle divided into 12 equal parts of 30 degrees, one for each sign. This page is a spinner that picks one of the signs at random.

What are the houses in the zodiac wheel?

Houses are 12 more divisions of a birth chart, based on the time and place of birth. This wheel does not show houses.

Is there a Chinese zodiac wheel?

Not here. This wheel uses the 12 Western signs. The Chinese zodiac has 12 animals tied to birth years.

Where does the zodiac come from?

Babylonian astronomers divided the sky into 12 equal signs around the 5th century BCE, and the Greeks later took over the system.

How do I find my own sign?

Look up your birth date in the dates shown with each sign. If you were born on the edge between two signs, check a source that uses your birth time.

Can I spin by element?

Yes. Set Element to fire, earth, air or water and the wheel keeps only those three signs.
